Travel day

WOW...as predicted we had an unbelievable thunder, lightning, rain, wind storm last night. It lasted over 8 hrs and probably matched the storm we heard about at home. Not much sleep for me :(

The power went out briefly and this morning there was no let up in the torrential downpour. We were sure thankful we had been in Cinque Terre when it was nice weather.  Our train didn't leave until 1:00 but the family we rented from were nice enough to let us stay in the room until 12:00. At least out of the rain.

The train we caught traveled along the coast, including the Italian Riviera, so it was scenic even in the rain. But something we hadn't considered, a major portion of the trip was through tunnels... not much to see then :) We weren't clear when we bought our ticket why such a reasonably short trip would take 4 1/2 hrs but the agent couldn't help us in English. Once on the train we soon found out. It was a local train and it made 44 stops. I know because I counted..lol. And at that it was over an hour late arriving at San Remo. Looooong day !!

But it has just stopped raining and our place here has a kitchenette and a small balcony so we cooked dinner tonight. No restaurant food or pizza. Such a treat!!!
