Cinque Terre ...last day

We both had to hit the toilet in the train station before we left on our hike. Ron took this photo but my experience was the same... hole in the floor. Tricky, smelly and yucky !!!

Today was our last day in Cinque Terre.
The top two "can't wait to dos" for me on this trip were visiting Hans and Gre and the relies in Holland and hiking the Cinque Terre.
A big section of the trail was still closed from the flood in 2011 but we were able to bypass that part by going up to the top on our first day. So after today we hiked to all 5 towns and it was amazing!! The trails were steep up and down but each one different between towns. It is said you can't help fall in love with the place once you've been here. That is definitely true for us but the experience would not have been nearly as fantastic without the hikes.
Although we got very little full sunshine turns out we were really lucky with the weather. A bad rain storm is on the way tonight and they have already advised that all the trails will be closed for the next two days.

The start of day 3. We began where we left off yesterday in the town of Vernazza.

When we were up on the trail we looked back to see it one last time.

As is the custom in Italy couples place a lock to pledge their love...in this area usually on the Via dell'Amore...lover's walk. But this area of the trail was closed so we got creative and picked the place with the highest elevation in today's hike .

Awwww....

We made it to the last town Monterosso.

Totally spent :)

A gelato reward

This area has the largest beach but sadly it was overcast when we left on our hike so we didn't take our bathing suits :(

We decided to take the ferry back ...

Vernazza

Corniglia

Manarola

Riomaggiore

The last 3 days have been rewarding with incredible memories !!!
