In the morning we visited Schonbruun Palace. The site began as an imperial hunting lodge in the 16th century, then was expanded to become a summer palace and finally into a residential palace for Hasburg rulers. Napoleon also took the palace twice in 1805 and 1809 as his own. In 1996 it was declared a UNESCO heritage site and it is said to be only second to Versailles as a show of imperial wealth.
We took a tour of the opulent inside. There are over 2000 rooms but we only saw 40 on the tour.
The gardens and grounds were just as magnificent as the interior and cover 500 acres..... massive. They even have a
zoo!!
