Salzburg

The "good weather gods" who favored us for over 2 weeks have looked the other way :( It has been raining, drizzly and 16 degrees ...brrr. But that has not stopped us from doing anything !!

First and foremost about Salsburg... the town is Mozart crazy.
We learned he lived here until he moved to Vienna. He was writing operas by the time he was 11. And his father was a "forward thinker" who got kicked out of school for his radical ideas.

The family plot at the cemetery

The house he was born in

Salzburg gained mining rights in 996 AD and mined gold, silver and salt. The first town seal declaring it a town was in 1249. The citizens lived a good life as they set themselves up as importers/exporters with Vienna traveling over the mountains.

A typical house from this time
