- if you want to take in the major sights... everything costs $$$
- an average schnitzel dinner would cost about 15 € ... doesn't seem too bad until you realize that's $22 Cdn . Two draft beers 10€ but really $15
- we did our laundry last night at a laundromat and it cost us $30 Cdn for 2 loads wash and dry
There is sooooo much to see .. very cultural with an emphasis on music and many, many impressive buildings and statues. You need at least a week to even begin to take it all in.
Difficult to navigate walking. .. hard to read the map but subways, trams, trains all interconnected and easy to use.
No ice....hard to make good drinks... lol
Water filling stations on the street for refilling water bottles :)
Car2go .. same colour and smartcar just like Vancouver.
We were able to rent an eclectic one bedroom apartment through our friends Bob and Lorrine. The apt was fully functional but no TV or wifi. We rarely watch TV so that was no problem. But we soon came to realize that we are very dependent on wifi.... especially on this trip as we are researching and booking hotels and tours as we go.
If we were to come back we would stay in one of the small towns in the Danube Valley. They offer tourist accommodation and it is a draw for the picturesque scenery, cafes and small town feel. Many come for the cycling along the path that follows the Danube River.... It is flat :) and you can cycle from small town to small town. Definitely appeals to us.

Interesting comments. It is a beautiful place with lots to see indeed. I think you did well.
