This morning it was overcast so we decided it would be a good day to do a long hike... not too hot :)
We left Riomaggiore and hiked straight up for over an hour.
What we didn't consider was that the clouds kept the heat in and it was sooooooo humid. So bad that my glasses kept fogging and my hair was drenched .
You can even see the humidity
At the top was the tiny town of Volastra.
We got to a ridge and walked along the bluff through vineyards built on terraces.
We were 2000' above the ocean, where we started.
You know me and my fear of heights... I was really scared at times as the trail was narrow but I did it !!!
We saw some amazing sights especially looking back on the towns we were above. Unfortunately the clouds made the photos look a lot less picturesque than it really was.
The start of sun dried tomatoes......
Above Manarola, the second town in Cinque Terre
That's Corniglia... our final destination.

That was quite the hike. But interesting to see towns from above. The vineyards looked beautiful. Beautiful day here today. Enjoy you two! All is well here.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly like the towns on my hike through Tuscany (except the ocean views).
ReplyDeleteIts a chance to see things you would never in a car or train. Love it!
